GLOBALG.A.P. Tour 2023 takes place in Brazil with the participation of QIMA/WQS

The annual event that promotes sustainable agricultural practices brought together all the links in the food chain to debate the demands of the sector, compare protocols and uncover the current national and international market.

On August 30 and 31, the city of São Paulo hosted a major event on the agribusiness agenda: the GLOBALG.AP Tour. Bringing together the chemical and biological industry, producers, distributors, supermarkets, the national regulatory agency and associations representing the sector, the event aimed to share knowledge and raise market awareness of the adoption of good agricultural practices in line with society's expectations and demands. In this sense, QIMA/WQS's participation was very relevant, given that the company has a strong presence in the supply chain, from farm to fork, by offering solutions for the food industry.

About the event

Promoted by GlobalG.A.P., the entity responsible for the international certification system for food production and marketing, in partnership with PariPassu, a Brazilian company specializing in agribusiness solutions with a focus on the management and automation of agricultural and livestock processes, the GLOBALG.AP Tour took place for the first time in Brazil. The initiative, which passed through 44 countries on 6 continents, brought about a debate on the international relevance and opportunities for improving good agricultural practices and promoting food safety.

Today, we stand out as one of the main food supplying nations. This generates a growing demand for controls of origin, driven both by national regulations and by the demands of international importers.

But despite being a major player in world agribusiness, Brazil still needs to make progress in its certified production areas. That's why the idea of bringing the GLOBALG.AP Tour to São Paulo was a great opportunity for professionals in the sector to get up to speed and take a more strategic view of the business, presenting less risk when making investments and encouraging new investors to give preference to the Brazilian market.

Connections and experiences: QIMA/WQS participation in the GLOBALG.AP Tour

The central theme of the meeting was "Cultivating Innovation in Responsible Agricultural Practices". This led to debates dealing with the benefits of certification to increase production controls; success stories in Brazil and other countries to inspire participating companies to engage in the topic; a positive agenda to discuss the increase of certified companies in Brazil over the next five years; and alignment between the activities of the Brazilian government and GlobalG.A.P.

Ricardo Hachuy, Commercial Manager of the QIMA Group, shared his opinion on the GLOBALG.AP Tour. He pointed out that the event was not only a great opportunity for the company to keep up to date with retail movements and the strategies of exporters of fruit and vegetables produced in Brazil, but also that GlobalG.A.P., as a global standard, helped and directed the agents in the chain to achieve excellence in the production process. "We were able to meet several important clients and partners, taking the opportunity to talk about ongoing business and new projects," said Hachuy. He also stressed that the event served as an impetus for the relentless pursuit of quality in production chains and food safety, as a way of building a future that inspires greater consumer confidence.

Given the subjects covered and the influential participants, QIMA/WQS had a unique opportunity to connect with other industry leaders and share valuable insights into the challenges and prospects facing the food industry today. As well as attending the lectures and discussions, the company, through moderator Helen Prosdocini, was active in the panel exhibition, where it explored "Good Agricultural Practices in the Agri-Food Sector - Food Safety, Social and Environmental Responsibility".

Helen Prosdocini, who is Director of Sustainability and Agriculture at QIMA/WQS, also spoke about the importance of taking part in an event that encourages productive dialogue and highlights the success stories of producers committed to sustainability. "It was a great joy to be able to take part in this internationally renowned event, which brought together professionals and experts from the sector. My participation as a moderator allowed me not only to share knowledge, but also to learn from the best in the field, discuss challenges and solutions, and promote sustainable practices that are crucial for the future of our agriculture," she said.

Thanking GLOBALG.A.P. Food Plus and the Paripassu team for organizing the event, as well as the important figures who shared the discussion space, Helen Prosdocini also highlights the relevant interaction with inspiring speakers and the participatory and attentive audience on topics ranging from the responsible use of natural resources to the importance of the safety of rural workers, including the need to reduce the environmental impact of agri-food activities. "It's incredible to see how good agricultural practices not only increase the quality of products, but also have a very positive impact on local communities," he concludes. Shaping the future of agri-food production and food safety

QIMA/WQS's participation in this year's GlobalG.AP Tour highlighted the company's commitment to excellence and innovation in food safety and the agricultural production chain. Through a combination of specialized expertise and active engagement, QIMA/WQS played a crucial role in enriching, developing and strengthening the foundations of a sector that directly impacts the lives of millions of people.

While experienced professionals shared technical innovations and experiences, the event also brought together the community of food safety professionals responsible for supermarkets and food industries. In general, the audience - both national and international - was active in the distribution and retail of fruit, vegetables, flowers and fish, which demonstrated GlobalG.A.P.'s commitment to exploring the main agri-food production chains.

As there are no plans to hold a second edition of the event in Brazil, this was a unique opportunity for everyone who took part. For QIMA/WQS in particular, attendance solidified the company's position as an influential, promising and respected voice in the food industry.
